Who We Are

On Feb. 8, 2018 our lives forever changed when we picked up our very first foster child. A tiny baby girl. We were a one income family with two other children but we knew this was what God had called us to do. We realized, as we began our foster journey, that God was also calling us to help other foster families on their journey.

God clearly spoke to me and said – open a store where foster families can come and get items they need at no cost. I kinda laughed and thought we don’t have the means to do this. And he’s said – of course you don’t but I do. So we stepped out on faith and opened The Village and God has provided every single thing we have needed. Obedience – He will bless your obedience. It’s such a privilege to be a small part of the bigger plan He has. When we became a foster family we had no idea what all He had in store for us. We could have missed it all out of fear – but He has proven to us over and over again that He will provide, He just needs us to move when He says move.

What We Do

01.

— Boutique

The store allows families to shop for 15 items a month per child.  This includes but not limited to diapers, socks, shoes, coats and so much more. Once we have registered the child, you will come to the store during normal hours and shop for the items you need that month.  If you need a specialty item that is not the store, the volunteers will then reach out to try to get your item.

02.

- Emergency Care Bags

We know that you can’t always plan when a child might come into your home.  When you get an emergency placement, someone from The Village will pack you a bag to get you started. This will include all the necessities a child may need for the first few days.  Everything from toiletries, clothing, blankets and so on will be packed in their own bag to have as they transition into their new home.

03.

— Freezer Meals

When families receive a child or children in care unexpectedly, The Village provides prepared frozen meals along with sides. This helps the family focus more on the children and not worrying about what they will have to cook for dinner.

04.

— Back Pack Drive

The Village, along with help from Golden Acres Baptist Church, packs backpacks for children in care for the new school year.  Each child gets a new backpack packed with supplies for their specific grade level and a lunch box.

05.

— Angel Tree

Each year, The Village host an Angel Tree shopping day.  All the gifts are donated by local businesses and churches.  Each family gets to shop for children of all ages for Christmas gifts to include stocking stuffers. While the parent shop, the children are enjoying fun activities and treats.  After the gifts are picked out they are wrapped and ready to be put under the tree for the families.

06.

— Movie Night

To connect other families with children in care, The Village likes to coordinate fun and free events and activities.  Most recently, the families enjoyed a movie night to include dinner, dessert and popcorn. This event was hosted by Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Impact Stories

It has been a life saver for me.. Also it has been a place where I can pay it forward.
They were the difference between having very little for my kids and having everything they needed. Amazing people that are selfless and kind are hard to come by these days but you can definitely find them at The Village.
